… and was therefore sold off. This is a story that has been told over and over again for decades, and that doesn’t make it any more true. From a purely accounting perspective, it was true. The division reported as ‘Imaging’ in the financial statements had, for decades, largely been posting losses. […]
Imaging World has now published the visitor figures. 14,800 visitors. More than last year, when – as far as I can remember – there were around 13,000. (If anyone still remembers the exact figures, please correct me!) So far, so good. Unfortunately, not quite. Last year’s target was 15,000 visitors. And this […]
This is a 2CV6 with 29PS. Built in 1983. It reached the breakneck speed of 115 km/h. A brilliant burst of acceleration at the traffic lights. 1988 at a campsite in Yugoslavia. The 2CV was manufactured for roughly 40 years with almost no changes. OK. The engines got more powerful, a third […]
DJI showcased three things at the trade fair: There were only rumours about the Neo3, and I even added one of my own in a small group: that the Neo3 has a LOFIC sensor. No, it doesn’t. There weren’t even any rumours about the camera. Yet this camera is the spectre that […]
I did, after all, say in my books at the start that LEDs were no good. Then I said that LEDs require huge LED panels and that there are no decent light modifiers for them. And now I’ve been to Imaging World and seen LED spotlights with outputs of up to 2.4 […]
As I mentioned during the last PATLIve, I’ve taken apart my first original BLX-1. The battery was dead – it wouldn’t charge and read 0.00 volts. So I took it apart. All it took was a small screwdriver and about two minutes. Then it was open. Open one side, pry it open. […]
I’d thought I still had a photo from Berlin saying ‘You are leaving the democratic sector’. But all I had was ‘You are leaving West Berlin’. Perhaps there never was a sign like that in the first place. I’ve only found a sign saying ‘End of the democratic sector, Berlin’. What does […]
Just look at all the emails and comments I’ve received, and what people have been saying to me at Imaging World. “Moving to Cologne? What sort of rubbish is that? The best trade fair ever, and now they’re going to ruin it?” The question marks are important, because everyone was – and […]
The story of the dog. And what he’s doing as the cover photo on pen-and-tell. This is Pablo. Pablo is a Segugio from an animal rescue centre. The photo was taken at ‘Dinzler’, a coffee roastery in Irschenberg. That’s where the local jet set meet up for a get-together, a cuppa or […]
UPDATE! […]
The news has now leaked out – DJI and Insta360 have, shall we say, launched similar products onto the market. And that’s why the two companies are no longer exactly on the best of terms. The South China Morning Post reported on this back in March. The dispute is still before the […]
Ich hab’s ja schon gesagt, B.I.G. und DJI sind jetzt auf der Imaging World vertreten. Wer seinen Messerundgang planen will, da gibt’s einen aktuellen Hallenplan. Der ist allerdings ein kleines bisschen versteckt – sie haben es verpasst einen Link auf der Homepage unterzubringen. Hier ist der Link: https://imagingworld.de/hallenplan Titelbild: Das war 2025 […]
