I am a journalist. A journalist is someone who interviews people and builds an overall picture from many small snippets, from whose publication he lives. At least that’s how it should be.
For this to work in the long run – outside of Q-bubbles – several factors are necessary:
- Confidence of whistleblowers in source protection.
- Double-checking of all information
- Check for plausibility
- Expertise in the subject matter.
- Knowledge of the actors involved.
- If I publish things, I generally double-check them or mark them as rumors from a single source.
If I have information from a source that I know is unique but trustworthy, and that information absolutely must be published, then I change the relevant data so that the information cannot be traced back to the source, but the information as such can be transported.
There have been the most violent attempts to debunk my sources in the last few days, with really strange things being attempted that people have had to apologize for afterwards.
Now the specs have ended up on 43rumors despite locked USB ports and threats with all conceivable penalties. And apparently, someone just left the spec sheet lying around somewhere. Because what is circulating is not the official spec sheet, which is supposed to be released to the press later, but an internal paper.
The lounger is probably having a rather mediocre time at the moment.
Fact is in any case: it wasn’t me. When I publish information, I take care – see above – not to harm my source and that the information is useful for my readers.
I’ve been saying for ages at the FolyFos that the new camera will be insanely fast and can chunk RAW at 120fps. That high frame rates at FullHD are to be expected. That the AF will make a significant leap. Of course, I didn’t give many exact numbers – even if I already had them – because I had to be considerate of my sources. But I have a responsibility to my readers. If someone says to me “why didn’t you tell me this before, now I’ve spent 3000 Euros on a new camera and here it comes” then I can tell him that I did tell him that – he just didn’t believe me.
But publishing complete specs in advance doesn’t help much. The information content in terms of purchase decisions is low – for anyone who has followed the FolyFOS-Streams, there is nothing in there that is very surprising.
I find it more exciting to drop knowledge for people who can read between the lines – for example, that there will be a successor to the 12-40. And also the reason for it. (BTW: if you’ve read the specs, you’ll have noticed that the new body has increased weather resistance. Of course, that’s only as good as the weather resistance of the lens. )
I had mentioned it at the last FolyFos: if you want the camera fast, you should contact your dealer. The first shipment is, according to my information, as good as gone. If you think you can wait until prices drop, it may take a while. Sure, in the hobby area hardly anyone “needs” this camera immediately. In the professional environment, it can look different. The competition is tough there, and you have to be able to deliver.
And about the pictures: they fit the overall situation. Unfortunately, Raffball has fallen victim to Covid. You should take pictures as long as you can take pictures. In this case, it was the Bavarian championship 2016.

Ich vermisse in den ellenlangen Specs eine spezielle Information: sky af und astro tracker. Der astro tracker war ja vorher in den einzelnen Gerüchten schon ein Thema, in den Specs steht kein Wort dazu. Hast Du dazu etwas gehört?
Das wäre für mich ( sicherlich nicht für jedermann, aber für jeden Astrofotografen ) ein absolutes i-Tüpfelchen für die Kamera.
In den Specs steht einiges nicht. Aber ich werde einen Teufel tun, und die Gags noch ausplaudern, die noch in der Kamera stecken.
Starry sky AF steht in dem Dokument drin, Astro-Tracking ist nicht erwähnt. Was immer das bedeutet.
Als bekennender Astrofotograf sehe ich da jetzt mal nichts, was mir da das Leben einfacher machen würde.
Ein Tracker um <400 ist als AddOn ja sowieso Pflicht 😉

Insofern könnte ich mir vorstellen, dass Oly (´zeihung OMDS) in Bezug auf Astro noch auf ziemlich geniale neue Ideen gekommen ist. 🙂
Wie er so ab Minute 16 sagt: (er verwendete nur das 17mm) Wenn man sonst nichts hat und machen will, dann HHHR. Wer mehr will (früher oder später meist 😉 )kommt um einen Tracker und “normale” Einzelbelichtungen nicht herum. Ist auch einfacher, wenn man mal die Techniken beherrscht.
Beim Mond ist es auch mit Nachführung so, dass es HHHR nichts bringt, außer größere Bilder. Und außer bei absolut Hammer Seeing (das gibt es minutenweise ein paar mal im Jahr). Ansonsten werden halt viele Bilder gesammelt und verrechnet. Es werden dabei offenbar zwar grobe Ausreißer entfernt, aber mehr nicht.
Da ist es wesentlich einfacher mit der Serienbildfunktion eine Menge mehr Einzelbilder zu bekomme und die dann beim stacken (beste Software die es gibt und frei AutoStakkert) zu drizzln. Das ist die in etwas die selbe Funktion wie HHHR.
Generell braucht es kein HR am Himmel sondern einzig und alleine “runde” Sterne und genügend lange Belichtung. Und das ganz möglichst oft.
Also an sich einfach: Aber schwer zu erreichen 😉
Was wirklich super ist für Brennweiten <50mm ist natürlich der StarryAF. Aber den gibt es ja schon mit der 1.III.

Nun, für mich ist nicht vieles relevant, außer der AF. Wenn die 1053 Phase Points stimmen und der Sensor 120FPS kann (Auslesen nicht Bilder)… was will ich mehr für mein 150-400.
Hab heute extra wieder beim Händler angerufen das ich auch ja auf der Liste stehe. Das Ding schreit förmlich für die Brutzeit!

Ich habe meinen Fotohändler letzte Woche angerufen. Seine Aussage: Wir wissen von nix, wir können noch keine Vorbestellungen annehmen. Erst dann, wenn die offizielle Ankündigung von OM raus ist.

Ich finde das ganze hin und her immer recht interessant, egal um was es sich handelt oder in welchen bereich man sich da bewegt.

Für meinen Teil schaue ich gespannt auf die Neuerungen, da ich aber noch nicht ansatzweise meine EM-1.3 ausreize, ist das “einfach” nur Tagträumen wie wenn ich mir neue Server Specs anschaue 😀

Also ich schaue mir das erst mal in aller Ruhe an. Es ist schön, dass was Neues kommt, aber für den Moment bin ich mit meiner E-M5 II und der PEN-F noch sehr zufrieden. Blind vorbestellen ist nicht so mein Ding. Wenn die neue Kamera wirklich so gut ist, kann das Sparschwein noch ein Weilchen gemästet werden – und vielleicht gibt es ja dann auch mal eine nette Sonderaktion.
