I have reported a few developments in the last few months where something has happened. So here is the latest news on these topics:
The general meeting of the PIV is now over – it’s official, the PIV is being liquidated. Photopia in Hamburg will still take place in autumn under the auspices of the PIV, but the question remains as to what will happen to it after that; there is still no date for 2025.
The BGH will now have to decide the problem of the photo wallpaper on 27 June 2024, as the Düsseldorf Regional Court also saw no copyright infringement. Three cases will be heard at the same time.
CAI initiative: Leica has already presented a corresponding camera. Now Nikon, Canon and Sony are also on the home straight. But instead of adhering to the Adobe standard, all three manufacturers are stirring their own soup and working together with their own partners.
Sony with CameraBits and AP (Associated Press). CameraBits are the manufacturers of PhotoMechanic, an image display programme that now has change tracking built into the software. Sony plans to deliver firmware updates for the A9III, A1 and A7SIII that will work with PhotoMechanic.
Nikon is working with Agence France Press and has developed a digital watermark. This is to be delivered later in the Z9 via a firmware update and also goes beyond the CAI.
Canon wants to introduce a new camera right away, together with a corresponding app that can be used to detect changes. Reuters and the “Starling Lab for Data Integrity” – a spin-off of Stanford University and the University of Southern California – are involved in the project. This project aims to ensure security by storing a unique hash in a blockchain.
Grandiose. Four completely different, incompatible approaches. A guarantee of foreseeable failure with the burning of large quantities of green notes.

Ja, weil dann jede KI lernt, dass man mindestens 4 unterschiedliche Verfahren gegen Bildmanipulation einbauen muss um echt zu wirken 😉
Könnten auch mehr werden. OMDS braucht ja auch was eigenes – irgendwan mal. Geht natürlich nur mit einer neuen Kamera.

Auf Messen, Konferenzen, bei Redaktionellen Moderatoren, selbst bei Politischen Themen, wird mit den Mobiltelefonen fotografiert und gefilmt.

Da findest Du weder Alphabet (google) noch Apple oder Samsung. Von irgendwelchen Chinesischen Handy-Herstellern ganz zu schweigen. Auch Arri oder Blackmagic sind nicht dabei. DJI? Fehlanzeige.
Das ist eine Initiative von Adobe um ihre Software zu promoten und ein paar Kamerafirmen sind aufgesprungen, weil sie damit wieder einen Vorsprung gegenüber der Konkurrenz meinen zu haben. Verlage und Agenturen sind dabei, weil sie damit den Aufwand ihrer Lizenz- und Rechercheabteilung minimieren zu können glauben. KI! Kosten sparen! Personal abbauen! Der externe Fotograf ist jetzt zuständig dafür, dass das alles echt ist! Jackpot! Wir brauchen nicht mehr prüfen! HR- bitte pink slips schreiben!
