Nisi 9mm f/2,8

The Nisi is a block. And of all the wide-angle lenses I’ve been lugging around over the last month, it’s the slowest. And with 2.8 you can’t expect much bokeh:

Focusing distance 20cm – quite good, but the 7.5 mm Laowa goes up to 12cm. Right in the center of the image you can see a diffusion disk. What do they look like?

As you can see, they are pulled apart towards the corners, the bokeh has hard edges and outshines. And strange spots. Round and pretty is different. So the Nisi has nothing to do with bokeh. But it’s so perfectly corrected that I’m not showing it here. That’s boring. Nothing bends, nowhere. There are no CAs. Not even at aperture 2.8.

The picture is perfect, you can perhaps grumble aesthetically – but technically there is nothing to complain about. Even backlighting:

Many other lenses do not produce such contrasts. You can see two tiny flares, but that’s it.

The strength of the Nisi is therefore documentary wide-angle photography. Distortion-free, high-contrast, without strange edges at contrast edges and sharp right into the corners. In this case, 2.8 is also sufficient – you can also stop it down to 5.6, then the depth of field is definitely sufficient. The Panaleica 9mm delivers far more background blur, but unfortunately also blurred edges, flares and stray light.

Not a cheap lens, not everyone’s buddy, but an excellent lens for architectural photography. You don’t always want the brutal 7mm. The results from the 9mm show rooms as they are perceived, very useful for exposés in the real estate sector.
